My Story

For as long as I can remember I have adored dogs and animals in general. I grew up with a border terrier called Puzzle (photographed) who was such a cuddly, playful little rascal. He would sleep in my bed as a treat and would dig under the fence into the park next door at least once a month!

Growing up with a dog from a young age, I just experienced all the fun parts without realising how much hard work went into training a sociable, family-friendly, obedient dog. However, looking after dogs for the past 3 years has given me that insight and more! I don’t yet have my own dog, but having looked after over 100 dogs I know plenty about the many different behaviours and potential problems that can occur. I’ve looked after 3-month-old puppies and dogs 10+ years old, which has been very insightful and a privilege to witness. I know the rollercoaster that is puppyhood, into adolescence and the (hopeful) relief of eventual maturity.

Seeing how dogs respond to simple, rewarding cues made me realise what kind of trainer I wanted to be, which is when I discovered the Dog Training College. I subsequently did their 6-month Dog Trainer course, and passed with flying colours! This also helped me with my dog walking immensely; now I know precisely how they think and learn and can incorporate that into each walk.

I founded Happy Little Paws (previously both A&N Just Like Home and A&N Happy Home) to spend my time walking lovely doggos, but also to teach owners how to train their four-legged friend/s effectively and kindly, using only positive, reward-based techniques. With me as your trainer, you will learn how dogs actually think and learn, how they communicate and how you can communicate with them most effectively. With me as your dog walker, you can be rest assured that your dog is having stimulating, brain-tiring fun while out with other well-mannered dogs.
